IGTAP B-sides: hard mode
Quick answer
B-sides are the demo's hard mode: the same five courses rebuilt around tighter jumps, meaner spike layouts and far less margin for error. They arrived in the June 15 update, and they're what most players mean when they say IGTAP gets serious.
What B-sides change
- Spikes move into the jumps you were using as free progress before.
- Platform gaps stretch to where a plain jump can't clear them — you're expected to use dash jumps now.
- Chrome and checkpoints still exist, but the spacing between them is much longer.
You keep your upgrades, but nothing about the courses survives your muscle memory. Expect to re-learn every route.
How to unlock them
Finish the demo's main courses first — the B-side entrance opens off the endgame area after the finale. If you've just fallen into the pit and think that's the end, it isn't: see Secret Areas for what the pit is actually for.
The 2B→3B wall
The transition from 2B to 3B is the single most complained-about jump in the game — community threads call it "impossible" and "pixel-perfect." It isn't. The solution is a dash jump followed by a second dash in mid-air: the ground dash doesn't consume the mid-air one, so you can convert into an extended leap most players never realize they have. Once that's muscle memory, the gap is routine — see Movement Techs for the input breakdown.
General B-side advice
- Beat each B-side once. The steady income from a finished route beats burning an hour on a perfect line you can't repeat.
- Don't nerf-chase. The difficulty is the point — the devs and community are clear that 100%-ing B-sides is optional and meant to be brutal.
- Bank upgrades elsewhere, then come back. Clearing normal courses and stacking multipliers makes the B-side retry loop far less painful when you're stuck.
- Checkpoints are the run-killer. Most failed B-side runs die at the checkpoints, not the walls. Slow is smooth here.
