IGTAP FAQ

Quick answer

The questions that come up most in the community threads, with the honest answers — including the ones the game itself never explains.

Do demo progress and saves carry over to the full game?

No. The studio announced this directly before launch: demo saves will not transfer to the full game. Your demo hours stay in the demo — the launch build starts everyone fresh.

Are the launch build's saves safe?

Safer than on day one: Hotfix #3 (September 24) reinforced save files, added backup saves, and made save logging more verbose so the developer can trace problems. The same patch fixed an achievement trap around secrets. The end-of-September patches kept tending this area: Hotfix #6 (September 28) attempts to fix the save issues Linux players hit when running the game under Wine, CrossOver or Proton, and Hotfix #7 (October 8) reworked Steam Cloud settings to cut down on lost saves and fixed a softlock that could hit when you loaded a save while an automatically-triggering tree segment was growing. What has not changed: demo saves still do not carry over, so do not expect a demo file to open in the full game.

What does clone size actually do?

Nobody knows for sure, including the community's most dedicated players. It's handed out by hidden upgrades and referenced by an "8% clone size increase chance" stat, but the game never explains it. The leading community theory is that it controls how many clones can be active on a course at once — see Core Mechanics for the full rundown.

I fell into the pit at the end of the demo. Now what?

That's the intended ending. To get back to optimizing, enter the B-sides (intended route) or reset your position through a save edit — steps are in Secret Areas.

I'm stuck — where do I go?

"Stuck" in IGTAP usually means one of four things, and each one has its own page:

  • Stuck on a course — check the movement techs (dash-jump and wall-bounce open most routes) and the matching route tips on Levels 1–5 or B-sides.
  • Fell into the pit — that is the demo's intended ending, not a softlock; get back to optimizing through the B-sides or a position reset (Secret Areas).
  • Progress or save looks wrong — the September hotfixes reinforced saves and added backup saves (Hotfix #3); the save-recovery steps on Secret Areas are the community workaround. Linux / Wine / Proton save issues were addressed in Hotfix #6 and cloud-save losses in Hotfix #7 (updates).
  • An upgrade or secret did not register — walk the Secrets Tracker checklist against the hidden-upgrade routes; Hotfix #3 also fixed an achievement trap around secrets.

Is there a difficulty setting?

Yes, effectively: the B-sides are the hard mode, and the game exposes checkpoint and hard-mode toggles in its options. Play the normal courses first; the B-side entrance opens after the finale.

How long is the demo — and the full game?

Most players clear the demo's five courses in an evening, and 100%-ing it (including B-sides) takes much longer. The full game adds at least two more areas beyond the demo's finale; we'll post real completion numbers as the launch build gets played through.

Is there controller support?

Full controller support — the game was designed around it. Keyboard works fine too; see Controls.

What languages does it support?

Nineteen, including English, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Japanese and Korean — interface and subtitles.

Is there multiplayer?

No. IGTAP is strictly single-player; the only "multiplayer" is your own clone army.

Where should I report a bug or a translation issue?

The devs are active in the official Discord and on the Steam forums — translation fixes have shipped within days during the demo. For corrections to this site instead, use the contact page.
