IGTAP Guidean Incremental Game That's Also a Platformer

IGTAP movement techs

Quick answer

The game teaches you three moves — wall jump, dash and mid-air jump — but the community's tech list is what turns "impossible" jumps into routine. These are the four techniques behind almost every hard section and record run.

Dash jump (the "super")

The bread and butter. Dash along the ground, then jump during the dash to convert its speed into a huge, flat leap. The trick most players miss: after a ground dash-jump you can still dash again in mid-air, which is the actual solution to the notorious 2B→3B gap in the B-sides. If your dash jump keeps coming up short, that missing second dash is why.

Wall bounce

Line up close to a wall, jump, dash into it, and press jump again right before you touch it. Done right you kick off the wall with dash momentum intact. This is the move behind the Level 4 "wall above" hidden upgrade and the final spike tunnel on Level 5.

Spike-edge jump

A precision jump that starts from the very edge of a spike cluster — the kind of pixel-perfect-looking input that's actually just waiting to be practiced. Used to reach the +50% watt boost between Levels 4 and 5, and in several B-side rooms.

Mid-air dash and dash management

Dashes refresh when you land, when you start a new wall interaction, and through certain tech interactions — the players' shorthand is "grab your dash back." Chaining dash → jump → mid-air dash → wall interaction is the backbone of fast routes everywhere in the game.

Where to practice

  • Level 1 start: the short opening stretch is a safe lab for dash-jump timing — low stakes, instant restarts.
  • Level 3's spike wall: perfect for spike-edge jumps, since failure just resets to a nearby spawn.
  • The 2B→3B gap (B-sides): the exam. Don't grind it until dash-jump + mid-air dash is muscle memory.

Up next: put these to work in the Levels 1–5 walkthrough.
